Celebrate Australia’s National Day in Melton by heading down to The Willows Historical Park in Nixon Street, Melton for a great day out!
The program will start at 9.30 AM with entertainment and activities which include: Henna and face painting, Bunnings and Scout activities and Black Snake Productions Reptile Display.
There will also be food and drinks available from the Rotary Club BBQ Crew, Bean Me Up Coffee and CWA Melton Owls.
The day will also include formal proceedings of ‘Welcome to the Country,’ a presentation of Community Achievement Awards and an address from the City of Melton Australia Day Ambassador, the flag raising ceremony and finishing with the citizenship ceremony.
On Australia Day each year, the people of Melton like to recognise members of the community who make Melton and surroundings areas a better place to live. This is presented through the ‘Melton City Council Achievement Awards’
The categories for the awards are:
Woman of the Year – Commitment to advancing the status of women in the community
Community Project of the Year – for outstanding community projects
Access and Inclusion Leader of the Year – Commitment to improving the life of people in the community who live with a disability
Young Citizen of the Year – Community leadership under 25 years of age
Citizen of the Year – for Community leadership
All nominees of these awards will be recognised on the day at the ceremony.
