Beer gardens originated in Southern Germany and have since become a widely spread, popular novelty to have at any pub or bar. It is the perfect way to socialise, mingle and meet new people over a drink or 3! Soon every entertainers dream home will include that ever so famous beer garden and it really isn’t too hard to create yourself.
The first step is to get your backyard in order. You want to create a welcoming, social environment. Cut your laws and get rid of any branches, sticks or rubbish.
Secondly you will need to find a nice level area, to place your seating and table arrangement. Try and find a spot where there is both some shade and some sun giving your guests the option (creating optimal comfort all year around) Having trees to give you shade is one way, or you could purchase an outdoor umbrella or shade cloth.
Flooring
The furniture you will have for your beer garden will probably end up killing grass that you put it on. Why not try placing down some crushed rock, it is ethical and will look great!
You will now need to organise your furniture.
Try and look firstly at second hand outdoor furniture on different websites like gumtree, Facebook buy swap sells and ebay – you never know the bargains you may find! I would recommend that you use a high table top and bar stools for the main area. Also try and include another couple of chairs with more of a comfort focus (supportive backs etc.) This also creates a separate socialising area.
Benches with storage in your beer garden is a GREAT idea! Storage underneath the table as well as a cooler built into the middle of the table are super ideas, sure to impress guests!
Lighting
Fairy lights hanging above the seating area create an impressive, magical kind of atmosphere, especially at night. Tea lights can also do the trick, place them on your table tops.
You can create your very own backyard beer garden to be as simple or as intricate in design as you like. It is a fantastic way to socialise in the summer with family and friends.
