Cycle for a cause!
Ryder Real Estate are very proud of one of our lovely tenants Monqiue Anastasi, who is planning on a bike ride trip all the way from Melton to Brisbane in December next year. The cause? Endometriosis.
Monique is attempting to raise money and awareness of the disease that affects one in ten women. The disease causes very painful periods and reduces the chance of being able to fall pregnant.
“More than 176 million women worldwide suffer from it. Yet I still have so many people asking what it is.” – Monique said.
The main focus of the bike ride is to increase awareness of the disease and to let people know that “It’s ok to talk about periods.”
The money raised will go towards research for early detection to find a cure. Monique is aiming to raise $50,000 for Endometriosis Australia. During her long trip, she will stop at many different communities to discuss the debilitating disease.
It had taken Monique 15 years to be diagnosed. Doctors had told her that it was normal period pain and brushed it off. “It came to the point where it was debilitating and I couldn’t do anything.” Monique has been to hospital 15 times this year due to the painful disease.
The journey starts in December 2015 and Monqique will be joined by her husband and two of her friends who also have the disease.
From the whole team here are Professionals Ryder Real Estate we are wishing you the best of luck Monique!
